How to change Salesfroce CPQ Pricing method in Qoteline Editor by salesrep while quoting

To change the Salesforce CPQ Pricing Method in the Quote Line Editor (QLE) while quoting, sales reps need to use the Pricing Method picklist field, which must be enabled and visible in the QLE
Steps for Administrators to Enable This Capability
Before a sales rep can change the method, administrators must configure the Product record:
  1. Check "Pricing Method Editable": On the specific Product record, check the box for Pricing Method Editable (API: SBQQ__PricingMethodEditable__c). This allows the pricing method to be changed in the QLE.
  2. Add Field to Field Set: Navigate to Object Manager > Quote Line > Field Sets and add the Pricing Method field to the Line Editor field set.
  3. Ensure Supporting Data Exists: When changing to a method like Block, ensure the product has related Block Pricing records.
Steps for Sales Reps to Change Pricing Method in QLE
  1. In the Quote Line Editor, find the product line.
  2. Expand the line item drawer (if necessary) to locate the Pricing Method field.
  3. Select a new method from the picklist: List, Cost, Block, or Percent of Total.
  4. Click Calculate to apply the new pricing logic.
Supported Pricing Method Changes
  • List Price: Inherits price from the Price Book.
  • Cost Price: Enables Cost and Markup fields to calculate net price.
  • Block Price: Uses tiered pricing structures.
  • Percent of Total: Calculates price based on a percentage of other items.
  • Custom Price: Selecting this allows the sales rep to manually edit the Customer Unit Price, which overrides all other pricing tools.
Important Considerations
  • Original Price: Use the "Original Price" field to track the original price book value, as changing the pricing method overrides it.
  • Exceptions: It is recommended to create Validation Rules or Approval Processes to monitor changes to the pricing method.
  • Limitations: The pricing method cannot be changed once the product is added to a quote, in some configurations; therefore, it is best to set this before calculating.
